Seitsemän virolaista pyöräilijää siepattiin Libanonissa

7 virolaista pyöräilijää on tällä hetkellä teillä tietämättömillä Libanonissa. Silminnäkijöiden mukaan naamioidut asemiehet olivat tunkeneet turistit pakettiautoihin.

Tapahtumapaikalta on löydetty yhdet virolaiset henkilöpaperit sekä pyörät, Viron kunniakonsuli Sami Kamouh sanoi uutistoimisto Reutersille.  Miehet siepattiin Zahlessa, Bekaan laaksossa. Kyseessä on aika rauhaton seutu, siellä on palestinalaisten pakolaisleirejä, erilaisiä ryhmittymiä.

Toinen sieppaajista kuoli. Vuosina 1982 – 1992 Libanonissa siepattiin 92 länsimäistä turistia joista kahdeksan kuolivat, osa surmattiin, osa kuolivat terveydellisistä syistä.

No sign of missing swiss girls as 200 march to keep search going

SAINT-SULPICE, Switzerland — The mother of the missing Swiss twins and dozens of her supporters sought to encourage authorities on Wednesday to keep up their search in the hopes that the 6-year-old girls remain alive.

Missing girls with their mother Irina
With hopes of finding the girls dimming since they disappeared Jan. 30 from this wealthy lakefront community, about 200 friends and neighbours including some of the girls’ classmates took to the streets in a last-minute march organized through a popular Facebook page set up to assist in the search.

The 2-kilometre (1.2 mile) walk along the shoreline of Lake Geneva wound past elegant homes, the girls’ school and a 12th-century church before ending at the apartment complex of the girls’ mother Irina Lucidi.
Many people here, including Lucidi, believe they are still alive.
Sandrine Porchet said the aim of the march was to spread hope and to encourage authorities to keep looking for her friend Lucidi’s missing daughters Alessia and Livia.
“She hasn’t given up hope. Me, neither,” Porchet said. “We want to encourage everyone to hope with us, and to continue to (search). I think the pictures around are very useful … maybe all around the world.”
Swiss and French authorities have repeatedly said they continue to actively search for the girls. Swiss police in the canton (state) of Vaud did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
As police stood by at her apartment complex, Lucidi emerged briefly to offer her thanks and accept some flowers from some young girls, but was too emotional to say more than a few words.

“Thank you for the solidarity. Thank you!” she said, choking up. Some supporters also began crying.

Missing Swiss Twins Update

GENEVA – Two Swiss police officers have arrived in Corsica to assist their French counterparts in the search for the twin 6-year-old girls who disappeared almost two weeks ago.

The girls, Alessia and Livia, were taken by their father, whose body has been found near the Italian city of Bari, which is where the search is now being concentrated.

MISSING 6-year old Alessia and Livia

Hope of finding the girls alive is fading after a letter from their father turned up declaring he had killed them and was planning to kill himself.

Earlier on Saturday, French police said they hoped the girls’ mother, Irina Lucidi, could help them in the hunt in Corsica, while their Italian colleagues searched for the GPS from the dead father’s car.

FRENCH police are also investigating a report of a woman seen with missing Swiss twins and their father in Corsica before he committed suicide.

An investigator said they were “taking seriously” the account of Olga Orneck, a resident of the small southwestern ferry port of Propriano, who described to AFP how the four attracted her attention on the morning of February 1.

The witness said she was “100 percent certain” it was Schepp and “95 percent certain” the girls were his daughters Alessia and Livia.

Police say starting Jan. 30, girls’s father, Matthias Schepp traveled from Switzerland to Marseille, France, then on to Corsica and back to mainland France before reaching Italy. It is unclear when and where the girls disappeared. Swiss police said Thursday that in the days before he apparently killed himself, Matthias Kaspar Schepp, 43, used his work computer to trawl the Internet for information on firearms, poisons and suicide

The mother of the missing Swiss twins whose father confessed in a letter to killing them before he committed suicide said on Saturday she had still “not lost hope” of finding her children.

Terri-Lynne McClintic apologizes for death of ‘precious little angel’

Tori Stafford abduction details revealed
Publication ban partially lifted

Victoria Elizabeth "Tori" Stafford was an eight year old Canadian girl abducted from Woodstock, Ontario on April 8, 2009, and murdered. She was last seen on security camera footage walking with Terri-Lynne McClintic.

She was murdered within a few hours of her abduction, snatched off the street in this small town, in broad daylight. Time enough, though, for unspeakable cruelties to be inflicted upon her.

Terri-Lynne McClintic, left, pleaded guilty earlier this year to first-degree murder in the death of Grade 3 student Tori Stafford, right. TORONTO STAR FILE PHOTOS.

For more than seven months, the media has been forbidden from reporting what unfolded in a Woodstock courtroom. That was the day McClintic pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and received an automatic life sentence, , which carries the chance of parole in 25 years. It was reported by the media Tori had a peripheral connection to her abductor. Her mom had been to McClintic’s house, shared an interest in dog-breeding with McClintic’s mother.

Tori loved dogs too, so was easy to cajole when McClintic – who introduced herself as “T’’—said she had a Shih Tzu named Precious. “Tori told her she also had a Shih Tzu and she agreed that she would like to see Terri-Lynn’s dog,’’ as the agreed statement of fact puts it.

Yet McClintic told court she hadn’t specifically targeted the Grade 3 student that afternoon. The pretty little blonde girl was simply the first child McClintic came across.

The final image of Tori – the last time she would be seen alive – McClintic is escorting the girl to the parking lot of a nearby retirement home. In the surveillance videotape, the two walk off the screen.

They went to an address in Guelph, then to a location north of that city, a lonely laneway across from a farmhouse on a concession road off Highway 6. Cause of death was multiple blunt force impact.

McClintic: “I will never forget what happened, the mistakes I made, the failure I was. A million tears will never be enough and a million words would never be able to express how truly sorry I am. I allowed my own issues, my own past, to affect the future of an innocent girl.’’

Also charged with kidnapping and murder in the first degree is Michael Thomas C.S. Rafferty, 29.

I don’t think there will ever be forgiveness, at least not any time soon.

3 young brothers missing, may have been killed by their father

Skelton’s sons – Tanner, 5, Alexander, 7, and Andrew, 9 – were last seen Thursday in the backyard of their father’s southern Michigan home, and authorities say they believe the boys are in danger. The boys were reported missing Friday by their mother, Tanya Skelton, who was awarded custody after filing for divorce on Sept. 13

The three missing Skelton boys: Alexander, 7, Andrew, 9, and Tanner, 5

After speaking to the children’s father, investigators say there likely will not be a positive outcome to the case . That father is out of a mental clinic and now in jail. Skelton had been in an Ohio hospital since Friday, receiving treatment for mental health issues, after telling police he tried to hang himself.   Skelton, often described as ‘loner’, is an unemployed long-haul truck driver, he was arrested Tuesday on three counts of parental kidnapping.

So far, police say, the boys’ father, 39-year-old John Skelton, hasn’t told authorities much that they can use as the search for the boys evolves from rescue to recovery.

Crews have searched parts of southern Michigan in and around Morenci, a small town of 2,000 people about 75 miles southwest of Detroit. They’ve also scoured hundreds of acres just south of Morenci in northwest Ohio for the boys.

More than 400 volunteers tried to locate the boys. They also searched creeks and ponds near Morenci.

Sheriff Calls Kidnapped 13-Year-Old Girl ‘Epitome of Bravery’

"She’s a very brave little girl," said Barber. "Not only is she assisting in the investigation, under the circumstance, a 13-year-old being held captive for [five] days, I’d call her the epitome of bravery."

He said Sarah was taken from her home in Howard, Ohio, along with her 10-year-old brother Kody, her mother Tina Herrmann, 32, and family friend Staphanie Sprang, 41, last Wednesday. Police reported that beer cans littered the blood splattered house. Barber said DNA test are ongoing and would not speculate whose blood it was.

"Four people left that house, not under their own power," said the sheriff.

A police dive team retrieved a sedan from a pond at Foundation Park, located steps away from the home of suspected kidnapper Matthew Hoffman.

Sarah was rescued by a police SWAT team Sunday. Police found the girl alone. Hoffman, 31, and a convicted arsonist ,was arrested and charged with kidnapping.

Despite the girl’s efforts to help police in their investigation, they fear Sarah’s little brother, mother and a family friend who disappeared at the same time may be dead.

"We still would like to retain a hopeful attitude, but we have to be realistic," Knox County Sheriff David Barber said.

Sarah was released from the hospital and has been reunited with family members. "Physically, she is fine," Barber said. "Obviously she has been through a lot."
